Heading into the bye week at 6-2 and with sole possession of the AFC North, the team is right where they want to be.
But with a grueling back half of the schedule and Russell Wilson looking like his old self, it's time for Pittsburgh to get serious about taking the offense and the team over the top.
Russell Wilson Shows Out Two Weeks In a Row
A week after beating the New York Jets in historic fashion, Russell Wilson closed out the Subway Series version of the NFL by all but ending the New York Giants season. His 71% completion percentage, 278 yards, and a beautiful TD pass to Calvin Austin III showed what the offense can be.
And while the big names are seemingly off the market or never really were when considering Los Angeles Rams WR Cooper Kupp, the Steelers got an up close and personal look at what may very well be their best remaining option.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have been linked to Darius Slayton since the offseason when he was rumored to be on the trade block after seeking a new deal in New York.
And with the Giants season all but over after falling to 2-6, it's clear that the team may want to offshoot some assets for whatever draft capital they can receive at this point.
Beyond Slayton, there aren't many names of serious conversation, though with the Miami Dolphins falling to 2-5 on the season last Sunday, you have to wonder if another loss against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday wouldn't make them consider trading one of either Tyreek Hill or Jaylen Waddle.
And of course, with one weekend slate of games remaining ahead of the November 5th deadline, there could be a surprise team that makes a deal with Pittsburgh.
Either way, it's clear that if Pittsburgh is serious about being contenders, they need to pick up the phone once and for all.
