Here's more background on the moves:

More from Mims?

Mims is the headliner of the two additions, seeing as he was a promising prospect that was a high-weight-speed marvel coming out of Baylor. Unfortunately, Mims hasn't lived up to his 59th overall status from 2020, struggling to even see the field with the team that drafted him by way of the New York Jets, before a training camp stint with the Detroit Lions. Mims is familiar with current Steelers WR coach Frisman Jackson, who was his position coach in college at Baylor. The signing makes sense given  Pittsburgh likes to stay true their networking roots. We'll see if Mims is even activated on game day, but maybe he can finally work in a situation that favors wide receivers. If not now, then when?
