The Pittsburgh Steelers were off today, but as we know the NFL never sleeps.

Following a few injuries in the secondary, Pittsburgh signed former XFL star Lavert Hill, while releasing Duke Dawson and Isaiah Dunn, per Aaron Wilson of KPRC2:

Duke Dawson

Dawson went down with a scary injury late on Friday's game in Tampa. Based on his activity level at practice yesterday, it seemed that he avoided major injury. Dawson was walking around the field with no crutches or wrap on his knee.

Unfortunately, it appears that although not as serious as anticipated, Dawson will still miss time, forcing Pittsburgh to go in another direction and waive him on injury designation.

Isaiah Dunn

Dunn was also injured over the weekend, going down with an injury in practice yesterday. Unlike Dawson however, he was not waived with an injury designation, meaning Pittsburgh likely wanted to move on in favor of reported signing Nevelle Clark.

Lavert Hill

Hill is coming off a spring XFL season that saw him record two interceptions and All-XFL honors across 10 games for the St. Louis Battlehawks. Prior to that, the 24-year-old DB went undrafted out of Michigan in 2020, playing for multiple NFL teams in his three-year stint in the league.

Both Hill and Clark will have an uphill battle to make the roster, but they now have their chance.
