Following what looked to be a devastating injury to not only T.J. Watt but to the Pittsburgh Steelers hopes, there is a collective sigh of relief in Pittsburgh.
J.J. Watt just broke the news that instead of the feared MCL tear, Watt has suffered a much milder, though serious grade 2 sprain of the medial collateral ligament.
Here is what that means and what to expect for Watt in the coming weeks:
Best Case Scenario
"He just got out of the MRI tube and it is a best-case scenario for him," Watt said on the CBS pregame show on Sunday. "It is a Grade 2 MCL sprain. So that's a couple weeks of rest and recovery and you never know. I mean, hopefully, you know, make a little run and things can happen."
A couple weeks obviously means that Watt is slated to miss the Steelers' first playoff game next week, and that's considering that they make it, which is no easy feat when examining their current scenarios.
So we'll see where things go from here. The Doctor's orders are likely two weeks off, but that doesn't mean T.J. won't be pushing to play should the Steelers season continue.
