Tom Brady isn’t afraid to admit that Steelers’ Aaron Rodgers is the best ever at critical part of quarterback play
Brady knows greatness when he sees it.
It feels far-fetched at this point, but there was a time when debates on who was better between Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady were held.
With Brady going on to win so many rings, the question of who’s the best quarterback ever has transitioned to Brady and Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes, with most favoring Tom.
But when talking about the greatest passer, the greatest thrower of the football? That title belongs to current Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, according to Brady.
Tom Brady calls Aaron Rodgers best passer ever
“Aaron’s proven. He’s won a Super Bowl, many championship games,” Brady told Cris Collinsworth of PFF and SNF regarding Rodgers. “He’s a winner and I think what I’ve always appreciated about him, what everybody does, is his ability to throw a football and pass it… Aaron, in his prime, to me is the greatest passer of the football the league’s ever seen. He could get the ball from point A to B faster and more accurate than any player, I think, in the history of the NFL.”
The one caveat in that compliment from Brady would be “in his prime.” Rodgers is no longer in his prime. Shoot, he’s going to be 42. Athletically, he’s not the same as he was in his 20s and 30s. But his arm? Well, his arm still looked good last year with the New York Jets.
“We all have to evolve and grow,” added Brady on Rodgers. “And there’s other ways to evolve and grow. Some of it is more mentally. And sometimes, when you go through tough times, like he did with the Jets, you get reinvigorated by going to another organization, like the Steelers, that has had so much consistency in their success. And that could allow Aaron to achieve what he hopes. You know, to go out on the highest of possible notes. I’m really excited to see what he does this year.”
I tend to believe that far too many people are writing off the Steelers and Rodgers because of what happened in New York. Tell me one thing that has gone right there since Rex Ryan and Mark Sanchez?
That’s not to say I expect Rodgers to revive his MVP form of the early 2020s with the Green Bay Packers, but if Pittsburgh can go 10-7 in back-to-back years while starting Kenny Pickett, Mitch Trubisky, Mason Rudolph, Justin Fields, and Russell Wilson, it seems unwise to believe it can’t do that or more with the greatest passer of all time.
