The Pittsburgh Steelers selected Darnell Washington to be a plus one in the run game.

Whatever he provides to the passing offense will be a cherry on top for the Steelers.

But according to Washington, the NFL will see a version of himself that no one on Saturdays ever did:

Darnell Washington: "I'm going to have a better NFL Career than College"

"When you were getting ready to come into the NFL, were you anticipating, hey I'm going to catch the ball more wherever I end up in the pros compared to college?" Asked a reporter.

"Yeah, I figured, well, my logic and my thinking, I know that I'm most likely going to have a better NFL career than college," said Washington. "So that's (pass catching) something I wanted to showcase coming out you know at the combine and pro day just my ball skills and things like that. I know I got it so I don't know what the future holds but I'm ready."

Washington may not have been a feature in the passing game, but that was because during his time in Athens, the Georgia Bulldogs had names like George Pickens and Brock Bowers stealing all the targets, and how could you blame them?

Even still, Washington won back-to-back national championships and was a staple in the Bulldogs' offense during his Georgia career.

So to say he expects to have an even better pro career is no small statement, especially given his current position on the Steelers depth chart

But it's better to aim high than low, and if Washington continues to develop his route running and overall ability to separate, his statement may not be so bold after all.
