We have known since the spring that the Pittsburgh Steelers would close put their regular season, at home against the Cincinnati Bengals.
But up until late on Sunday night, the date and time of that game had yet to be revealed.
Now we know:
Steelers-Bengals set for Saturday Night
The NFL has released the date and time for the Steelers Week 18 game against the Cincinnati Bengals at Acrisure Stadium.
The game will be played on Saturday, January 4 at 8 p.m. The game will air on ABC/ESPN (WTAE-TV in Pittsburgh).
This will be the second time the two teams will face each other this season, the Steelers winning the Week 13 matchup, 44-38, at Paycor Stadium.
– Steelers
A finale to close out the 2024 season, this game is huge for both sides. The Bengals are fighting for their playoff lives. They not only need to win, but will need the Miami Dolphins to lose to the New York Jets, and the Denver Broncos to lose to the Kansas City Chiefs.
But for the Steelers, heading into the playoffs on a four-game losing streak is a recipe for another one and done in the postseason, and could be the catalyst for a much-needed overhaul should that occur.
However, the Steelers may have history on their side:
Pittsburgh is reeling after dropping three in a row to true Super Bowl contenders, leaving even the most optimistic of fans to realize what everyone has known about this team all season.
"The bottom line is, that was junior varsity and is not good enough," said Mike Tomlin after the Steelers third straight loss to the Chiefs on Christmas. "We have to own that, but we also have to look at what it is we need to do differently. We're not going to continue to do the same things and hope for a different result that doesn't seem sharply and so we're gonna take a hard look at this. We got a couple extra days, but we're gonna get back and do it. We're gonna take a look at it and make whatever necessary changes we need to make in the totality of this thing. Because, again, that doesn't feel good. It doesn't look good."
We'll see if the Steelers can get the bad taste out of their mouth come Saturday night in the regular season finale.
