They say what you don't know doesnt't hurt you, and for fans of the Pittsburgh Steelers, the latest report from ESPN's Adam Schefter could have gone sight unseen.
Why?
According to Schefter, Jacksonville Jaguars WR Christian Kirk was on his way to Pittsburgh before breaking his collarbone against the Green Bay Packers last week:
Christian Kirk Was Almost in Black & Gold?
On top of the flurry of wide receiver trades that the NFL already has seen in recent weeks, there was one more in the making.
The Steelers were in the process of trying to get a deal done for Christian Kirk, and league sources told ESPN there was a reasonable chance that the Jaguars wide receiver was going to wind up in Pittsburgh until he broke his collarbone last Sunday.
Pittsburgh's hope of upgrading its receiving corps was derailed, at least temporarily. But the Steelers are not giving up, a league source told ESPN.

Other than Brandon Aiyuk back in the summer, no name linked to the Steelers had the upside of Kirk. Sure he's not the household name that Davante Adams or Cooper Kupp are (two others rumored to be in trade talks), but at only 27 years old and not even two years removed from over 1,000 receiving yards and eight TDs, he would have been the perfect compliment to George Pickens.
Essentially, Kirk is what the Steelers are hoping that rookie Roman Wilson can become. A shifty slot option who can make plays after the catch but is fast enough to win in various elements of the game.
So stop me if you've heard this one before Steelers fans, but it looks like it's on to the next name on the trade block for Pittsburgh.
