Former AFC North rival admits that he's open to a Pittsburgh homecoming in order to help a Steelers' position of need

Tyler Boyd is no stranger to the city of Pittsburgh. A Pennsylvania native who parlayed a star-studded career with the Pitt Panthers into a second-round pick and lengthy tenure with the Cincinnati Bengals, Boyd spent last year in Nashville.
But he's open to a homecoming. A return to the facility he called home for three years. Only, in Black and Gold this time…
Tyler Boyd open to signing with the Steelers
Typically, free agents that are still available in late June, heading into July have some sort of baggage. Injury situations, legal trouble, questions about age and durability, it all adds up.
But none of that exists with Tyler Boyd. He doesn't turn 31 until halfway through the 2025 season, he played in 16 games last year, he's healthy and is an A+ character. Is he a star or even a WR #1 at this point in his career? No.
But do I think that Tyler Boyd's 2024 season, where he played on a broken Tennessee Titans offense is indicative of the player he is now…also no. Do I think he could help the Steelers and it would make a lot of sense? Yes. and more importantly, so does he…
“Absolutely," answered Boyd emphatically when asked if he would sign with the Steelers. "You know, all my family is here. I'd be able to have the majority of them be able to support me . . .
" . . . “I'm real cool with [Coach] Tomlin. He's always been a good person. When I was at Pitt, we had a good relationship. After practice, I'd walk over there, talk to Antonio Brown and those guys, talk to Tomlin, and he'd just pick at different things, where I could get better and get some guidance. I think we had a great friendship.”
Personally, I would, and the Steelers still may go for more of a needle mover at the WR #2 spot. Maybe that's a Terry McLaurin trade or someone else we don't yet know about.
But you can never have enough playmakers and or chain movers in the NFL and that's exactly what Boyd would offer as a depth target on the Steelers offense.
Aaron Rodgers admits there is one thing he wants to accomplish with Steelers, and it could mean more than any game he wins in 2025
That would be great for the franchise.
