The Steelers must not have gotten the memo that free agency is over, as the office of Weidl and Khan continue to make deals.
Per the Pittsburgh Steelers official Twitter account, the Steelers are re-signing cornerback James Pierre.
Pierre went undrafted out of Florida Atlantic in 2020, signing with the team and elevating all the way into a starting role in 2021.
Playing in over 50 games, Pierre has recorded two interceptions, eight pass breakups, three forced fumbles and 86 total tackles over his three-year career.
The former FAU Owl has outperformed his undrafted free agent label, now receiving the evasive second NFL contract.
Pittsburgh also made a smart financial move, waiting to sign Pierre until the time was right.
Pierre will more than likely be there to be a core special teamer and spot starter should an injury to the top of the depth chart occur at corner.
But those players are valuable, so good on Pittsburgh for re-signing the long shot from South Florida.
