Pittsburgh was quiet on the first day of NFL free agency, making only one signing. Well, the addition of Patrick Peterson probably deserves its own day, given his NFL legacy.

Per Over the Cap, Pittsburgh signed Peterson to a two-year $14 million dollar deal, with a $5.85 million dollar signing bonus and $5.85 million in total guarantees.

Here's how the deal breaks down:

Base Salaries:

  • 2023: $1.3 million
  • 2024: $3.85 million

Peterson is due a $3 million dollar roster bonus if he's on the team come the third day of the league year in 2024.

His APY is $7 million, placing him at 34th out of 227 cornerbacks in contract rankings.

Peterson will account for only 1.9% of the team's cap in 2023, ($4.25 million) and 3.8% in 2024, ($9.775 million).
