We still have a long way to go until the 2023 NFL Draft, but the Pittsburgh Steelers appear to already have their eye on a specific player in the first round.

Numerous media outlets noted that Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin paid close attention to Tennessee Vols offensive lineman Darnell Wright at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, AL this week.

Wright, who played right tackle at Tennessee this past season, was even asked this week about the attention he's received from Tomlin.

“He’s been funny. He’s been over there joking around," said Wright when asked about Tomlin (via SI.com). "We’ve been talking a couple of times each day. He likes rolling with the big dogs.”

“He has little pointers and he has good things to say," added Wright. "You can tell he knows line play, so I’m definitely listening to what he’s saying and doing my thing.”

ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler, who was at the Senior Bowl this week, noted on Friday that Pittsburgh has been keeping close tabs on Wright. He also pointed out that the Steelers might like Wright at guard.

From ESPN:

The Pittsburgh Steelers appeared to be keeping close tabs on offensive linemen at the Senior Bowl. One name to watch is Tennessee offensive tackle Darnell Wright, who Pittsburgh could see as more of a guard.

The Steelers will certainly be checking out plenty of players over the next couple of months. And they'll have several different plans. But it sounds like Wright is a guy they have their eye on.
