There are two certainties when it comes to the Pittsburgh Steelers draft strategy.
You can book them drafting an athletic marvel, and you can book them drafting a WR at some point over the three-day draft weekend.
And when it comes to South Carolina WR Xavier Legette, he would check both boxes for Pittsburgh:
Pittsburgh Meets With Legette
Pittsburgh got an up close and personal look at Legette during his time in Mobile at the Senior Bowl.
But it was the NFL Combine in Indianapolis where Pittsburgh really fell in love:
To run a sub 4.4 40-yard dash at over 220 pounds and 6-1 is elite athleticism. Legette is also built like a tank, and shows the physicality required to win at the next level when watching his tape:
While Legette is built like a prototype for the perimeter, South Carolina utilized his skill set in multiple alignments and recognized the ball in his hands is always a good thing. Legette’s innate ball skills and physicality make him a jump ball merchant, turning 50-50 balls in his favor. Despite displaying surprising fluidity to get in and out of breaks, Legette is best on vertical patterns, making one cut and getting up the field. Teams looking for a static X on the backside of 3×1 formations as a pure ball winner and deep threat will covet Legette in the draft.

And with Legette situated at 47th on the mock draft consensus board, he falls right into a range of the Steelers second-round pick at 51st overall.
You better believe he's a Steleer if he's anywhere near that number come Friday, April 26th.
