Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mitch Trubisky should be embarrassed by some of his most recent comments.
Trubisky recently spoke to ESPN about his time with Pittsburgh and the decision by Mike Tomlin to go with Kenny Pickett at quarterback after Trubisky won the job during training camp.
The former North Carolina Tar Heels quarterback told ESPN's Brooke Pryor that he thought he should've had a longer leash.
"It was quick," said Trubisky to ESPN. "It was pretty much out of my hands. I couldn't even ask why or what happened. He made the decision, and we went with it.
"I thought I should have had a little bit longer leash. … And then once you go to someone you draft in the first round, it's probably not going to come back around to you right away."
Trubisky seemed to ignore that the Steelers clearly made the right decision by switching to Pickett. I don't think anyone that follows the NFL closely thinks Trubisky should be starting over Pickett.

Trubisky also said that he felt like he should've taken more time during free agency before signing with the Steelers.
"Everything happened kind of quick," Trubisky told ESPN recently. "I didn't really have a long time to think of the decision. I wish I would've taken some more time and not just signed the first day of free agency. Looking back on it, just try to do some more research. But I felt like they were interested. I felt like it was a good opportunity to possibly get back on the field, but nothing's guaranteed."
Those comments essentially tell us Trubisky's mindset. He was looking for an easy route to a starting job and he thought he had that by signing with the Steelers. It sounds like he's not a big fan of competition.
Trubisky just isn't a confident guy. He doesn't have that killer instinct like we've seen from Pickett and other young quarterbacks like Joe Burrow and Justin Herbert.
There are some things that a quarterback should just never say. And Trubisky's comments about signing with the Steelers fall into that category.
Trubisky might get a spot start here or there in the future, but his days as a starting quarterback are likely over after these embarrassing comments.
