The Pittsburgh Steelers traded for an offensive lineman prior to Tuesday's 4 p.m deadline. The 53-man roster is now set and it includes a former Miami Dolphin with 70 game starts since 2017.

The soon-to-be 31-years-old has started in several spots throughout his career, giving the Steelers guard/tackle flexibility on the offensive line. Mostly, he's started on the right side. In fact, 86% of his snaps have come at either right guard or right tackle. He's also played over 300 snaps on each position on the left side.

The Davis trade isn't the solution for the offensive line problem fans hope to solve. He's not somebody that will be a plug-and-play left guard for an offense that desperately needs one. As a tackle, he graded lower than both Dan Moore Jr. and Chukwuma Okorafor.

But at the end of the day, it doesn't matter what team you're talking about, starting in the NFL for five consecutive years is not easy. So at least Pittsburgh is getting decent depth. And make no mistake about it, this unit needs depth.

Not to mention, the Steelers paid the Dolphins close to nothing for the veteran. They're sending a conditional seventh-round pick to Miami… of the 2025 NFL Draft.

So yeah, this trade might not the be most inspiring of them all or one that changes our expectations for the season. But it's a smart move to give up so little for a player with over 70 starts of NFL experience.
