Typically when a team franchise tags a player, it's because they want him to be apart of their future, or at least for the upcoming season.

Yet when the Kansas City Chiefs tagged two-time Super Bowl Champion CB L' Jarius Sneed, he was given the option to seek a trade.

And per Steelers Now, one of those teams may be the Pittsburgh Steelers:

Steelers In On Sneed

The Pittsburgh Steelers have expressed interest in Kansas City Chiefs cornerback L’Jarius Sneed, a league source in Indianapolis told Steelers Now. Pittsburgh believes they need to upgrade their cornerback room, and the team sees Sneed as one of the top potential fits. -Nick Farabaugh, Steelers Now

Sneed and the Chiefs don't seem to be on the same page, as the 26-year-old CB is looking to earn a big contract, and Kansas City aims to pay others like Chris Jones, while second-year CB and first-team All-Pro Trent McDuffie is going to be apart of the team for years to come.

Both Ian Rapoport of NFL Media and Dianna Russini of The Athletic believe Sneed can be had for a second-round pick, but he would be due the 19.8 million dollar salary that comes along with the franchise tag, if not a long-term extension that would push north of $64 million per A to Z Sports free agent contract projections

Sneed is the right age, player, and personality to play in Pittsburgh, and would quickly form one of the best CB duos in the league with Joey Porter Jr.

And often where there's smoke, there's fire in this league, with Steelers fans hoping for the plume to only get bigger in the coming days.
