Pro Bowlers, All-Pros, future Hall of Famers…you name it, they have it.
But there's one player on defense looking to cement his name amongst the league's best:
EDGE, Alex Highsmith

Highsmith is already on the radar of most Steelers fans after his breakout season in 2022, but he is still unknown throughout the league. The 25-year-old recorded 14.5 sacks last year, nearly doubling his combined total from his first two seasons with Pittsburgh.
And while that number is notable for multiple reasons, it didn't earn Highsmith any high-level accolades, with no Pro Bowl to speak of on his resume. But I expect things to change in 2023, especially if he continues to build off of last season.
Having T.J. Watt and Cam Heyward along the same front as you certainly helps, but Highsmith deserves credit for crafting an NFL-level pass rush plan, and adding serious tissue to his frame since college.
The only thing left to add now is some hardware, both for him and the team.
