The Pittsburgh Steelers continue to add to their secondary in free agency.
Free agent safety Keanu Neal has signed a two-year deal with the Steelers, per Neal's agent David Canter.
Neal, a first-round pick from the 2016 NFL Draft, played the first five years of his career with the Atlanta Falcons. He was a Pro Bowler in 2017 and was on his way to being a high-profile player before injuries robbed him of 2018 and 2019. He would go on to sign one-year deals with the Dallas Cowboys and Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2021 and 2022, respectively.
In his one year with the Bucs, Neal posted 63 total tackles, one interception and 0.5 sacks in 17 games and 580 snaps.
Entering his eighth year in the league, Neal is still just 27 years old (turning 28 in July) and has played in 46 games over his last three seasons.
A two-year deal for Neal indicates he'll be a Steeler for at least the 2023 season, and they'll re-evaluate his standing next offseason. Pittsburgh also re-signed safety Damontae Kazee to a two-year deal earlier in free agency.
Neither Neal or Kazee are long-term options to pair with Minkah Fitzpatrick, but the former is a quality depth piece with the ability to start in a pinch.
