The Pittsburgh Steelers' injury report had an eyebrow-raising name on the list. Starting right tackle Chukwuma Okorafor did not participate in practice on Thursday with a back injury.
The news is undoubtedly alarming as Okorafor could very well be the best pass protector on the Steelers today. For a unit already plagued with question marks, not having Okorafor would spell trouble for Mitch Trubisky, who already had a rough time in the preseason behind a shaky offensive line.
This Friday's injury report will be the most important for "Chuks." If he misses practice again, it could mean that the Steelers tackle won't be available for Sunday's game versus the Cincinnati Bengals.
If he's unable to go, the Steelers could look toward Jesse Davis as a backup, who's listed as the second-team right tackle on the unofficial depth chart and has been working at several spots along the offensive line. However, Trent Scott could have the edge as the more experienced tackle on the team.
The Steelers are already 6.5-point underdogs in the divisional showdown.
Other Steelers on Thursday's injury report
- WR Diontae Johnson – Limited (shoulders/cramps)
- LB Marcus Allen – FULL (hamstring)
- DT Cam Heyward – Did Not Practice (Coach's decision)
