Steelers Levi Wallace Trade 2023 Pittsburgh Steelers roster

The Pittsburgh Steelers aren't typically sellers when it comes to their players, but there's a new sheriff in town.

GM Omar Khan has already pulled off a draft day trade that netted Broderick Jones and made the Rams pay the majority of Allen Robinson's salary while acquiring the talented wideout for a mere seventh-round pick.

So with training camp fast approaching the man nicknamed the "Khan artist" may not be done yet, potentially trading a veteran that plays a key role for the team:

Levi Wallace, CB

Wallace came over in free agency last offseason, signing a two-year $8 million dollar deal with Pittsburgh. In his first season with the team, he played in 15 games with nine starts which netted him a career-high in pass breakups at 13.

But according to Dallas Robinson of Pro Football Network, now may be the time to sell high on the 28-year-old:

Levi Wallace may no longer be in the Steelers’ plans after they signed Patrick Peterson and drafted fellow cornerback Joey Porter Jr. at the top of the second round.Given that Wallace is scheduled to hit free agency next offseason, Pittsburgh could aim to get something in return for him now rather than lose him next year for nothing.Wallace isn’t a world-beater, but he was a 45-game starter for the Bills from 2019-21 before joining the Steelers last offseason. He consistently plays above his traits and gets in the way of incoming throws, breaking up 23 passes over the past two seasons. Wallace could offer the Lions much-needed depth, and Pittsburgh might be willing to part ways for a Day 3 pick.-Dallas Robinson, PFN

There are also cap implications to consider, with Wallace clearing $4 million in cap space via trade this year. Given the recent additions in the unit via both the draft and free agency, Perhaps Khan and Co. decide to fully embrace the change at the CB position, leveraging a valuable asset in Wallace to do so.
