The theme of the Pittsburgh Steelers’ win over the Cleveland Browns in Week 2 centered on the success of their pass-rushing unit. Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson was sacked six times and hit a total of 11 times in the game.

The script flipped for Pittsburgh in its road loss to Cleveland in Week 11. The Steelers sacked Browns quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson just once in the divisional contest, and he was hit a mere four times.

Thompson-Robinson was able to negate the pressure from Pittsburgh’s front seven with quick, short passes. According to NFL Next Gen Stats, the rookie passer logged a time to throw average of 2.34 seconds against the Steelers, which is tied with Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa for the best such mark in Week 11.

T.J. Watt sees that the Steelers defense must not let opposing quarterbacks have their way in the short passing game, which has hurt the unit all season long.

"Yeah, but we have to stop him," Watt said during his postgame press conference. "If he’s able to just convert 5-yard throws all day, that is an issue as well.

"Teams have been doing that this season, and it's just a matter of stopping it, so they are not able to continue to do it. That’s the issue right now."

Thompson-Robinson struggled to open up the Browns offense with downfield passes on the day, but he did at the least enjoy a bit of success in the short passing game.

The Steelers will now look ahead to a road matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals coming up in Week 12.
