Why a trade before the 2022 NFL Draft feels likely for the Pittsburgh Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers need a "quarterback of the future" with Ben Roethlisberger riding off into the sunset after a nearly 20-year career in the NFL.
Recent reports have suggested that Pittsburgh is enamored with Liberty quarterback Malik Willis. Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin spent a significant amount of time watching Willis at the Senior Bowl last week.
The Steelers' interest in Willis has been counterproductive for the franchise. As a result of Tomlin watching Willis like a hawk, the talented quarterback has seen his draft stock rise.
Willis could end up being a top 10 pick by the time the 2022 NFL Draft rolls around.
The Steelers have the No. 20 pick.
In other words, there's no way Pittsburgh is entering the 2022 season with Malik Willis on their roster.
Unless, of course, there's a trade.
The only way Pittsburgh is landing Willis is to trade up in the draft — likely inside the top 10.

If Tomlin and the Steelers believe Willis is the real deal, then I think it's a move they have to make. It's all about the quarterback in the NFL. If a franchise doesn't have an elite quarterback, they're quickly going nowhere.
So if Pittsburgh thinks Willis can be a franchise quarterback, then they should absolutely make a move to jump into the top 10 to select the Atlanta native.
Based on the way Tomlin's been scouting Willis, I'm starting to think that's how Pittsburgh views him.
And if that's the case, then I think a trade could be inevitable for the Steelers.
