NFL analyst gives his favorite move post-free agency for the Raiders

They moved on from Derek Carr and Darren Waller and grabbed Jimmy Garoppolo, and Jakobi Meyers. Not to mention the few moves they have made to the defense, and the moves they made to give Garoppolo more weapons, even if some of them were depth pieces.
They have their mind in the right space, but they still have to get the draft right too. But one move in particular they made was better than the rest, and one NFL analyst thinks so too.
Favorite: Signing wide receiver Jakobi Meyers
This is an interesting fit, as Hunter Renfrow has lined up in the slot for around 70% of snaps thus far in his career and Meyers is right behind at 65%. Nevertheless, the value here for Las Vegas is excellent, with Meyers’ undrafted status and slow 40-yard dash time following him onto his second contract. Since 2020, Meyers dropped just 3.1% of targets, a top 20 mark among qualifying wide receivers. At 6-foot-2 and 200 lbs, he uses his frame to battle for contested catches. Meyers’ 63.2% contested catch rate also ranks fourth best among wide receivers over the past three seasons.
Meyers essentially is a way the Raiders can potentially move on from the bad contract that is Hunter Renfrow if they wanted to. Meyers plays the same position and played it better last year. Both slot guys are great, but you only need one number one slot at a time really, and Meyers seems to be the guy that will be healthier more often.
Oh, and Meyers is cheaper. Sure, two years ago Renfrow had over 1,000 receiving yards in a season which is great, but how do we know if he can do that again? He was hurt for half of the season with two different injuries.
Meyers also already knows the offense that the Raiders want to run because he has been in the same system in New England. The fit is perfect.
