The Las Vegas Raiders lost one of the best running backs in the league earlier this offseason. Josh Jacobs, who is already considered one of the best Raiders running backs of all time by the record books, decided to go elsewhere.
During the madness that was free agency, Jacobs signed with the Green Bay Packers, and that left the Raiders with Zamir White as their best running back as the roster currently stands. White isn't bad, as when he did fill in for Jacobs, he had some very impressive games. However, the sample size really isn't there.
While every big free-agent running back kept getting taken off the board, it started to seem as if the Raiders would miss out on a starting-caliber guy and would have to draft the position. But some news happened on Monday that could end up being great news.
According to Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report, the Las Vegas Raiders are hosting free agent running back Alexander Mattison, who started for the Minnesota Vikings last season.
Mattison was Dalvin Cook's backup for most of his career, but after starting last season, he could be a guy the Raiders start or do a running back by committee type of system with White. Getting Mattison would be a great move by the Raiders, but the meeting has to go well, as he does have other teams interested.
