The Las Vegas Raiders had a ton of high expectations going into the 2022 season, as they added some elite players, a new regime, and some other good players. But, they finished with just six wins, far from potentially making the playoffs.

This offseason those expectations that the media and fans want to give the Raiders are a little tempered. People aren't saying this team will make the playoffs, but no one thinks they will finish with a top-seven pick in the draft again.

The Raiders made some adjustments this offseason. They got guys who know the system but are also pretty talented. They brought in Jimmy Garoppolo who ran the system in New England for four years and has since taken the San Francisco 49ers to the Super Bowl.

They also brought in some weapons for him in Jakobi Meyers, who also knows the system from the Patriots, the former Los Angeles Chargers receiver DeAndre Carter, and tight end Austin Hooper.

Just based on the moves they made, they are destined to get better. Now, those moves don't warrant a playoff appearance, but it's an improvement. One Pro Football Focus power rankings think so too, as they have the Rangers as the 22nd team just before the draft kicks off.

Biggest loss: QB Derek Carr

Biggest gain: QB Jimmy Garoppolo

With a new quarterback in Jimmy Garoppolo and a new receiver in Jakobi Meyers, will the Raiders be able to put together an above-average offense? Looking at the graphic below, Garoppolo had a lower turnover-worthy play rate than Carr and was similar in big-time throw rate.

The Raiders are bound to improve, and here is why:

They are adding new pieces that know how to play in this system where last year they didn't. Last year was the first year and basically the test year of the system. Now they have been in the system for a full season, and have another offseason to learn it.

The more consistency you have, R.E. not firing Josh McDaniels after one year, the better your team will get every year, most of the time. This system has worked for the Patriots, let's give it a chance.
