This offseason, on paper, it seemed like the Las Vegas Raiders were about to have one of the deepest wide receiver rooms in the league. We especially thought that after they signed Jalen Guyton, a guy they knew all too well from divisional rivalry games.

Jalen Guyton, after spending the last five seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers, signed with the Las Vegas Raiders during the 2024 offseason. It marked a reunion with Raiders General Manager Tom Telesco, who had previously signed Guyton as an undrafted free agent back in 2019 while with the Chargers.

Guyton's tenure with the Chargers was notable for his speed, contributing significantly as a deep threat in the 2020 and 2021 seasons where he accumulated 28 receptions for 511 yards and three touchdowns in 2020, followed by 31 receptions for 448 yards and three more touchdowns in 2021.

The Raiders, looking to bolster their wide receiver room which already included stars like Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers, saw potential in Guyton's ability to stretch the field. His signing was part of the Raiders' strategy to add depth and speed, especially after not drafting a wide receiver in the 2024 NFL Draft.

On Monday, after not appearing in any games for the Raiders this year, he was released from the practice squad. He dealt with injuries here and there this season and during the offseason.

With games against some formidable opponents like the Denver Broncos, Kansas City Chiefs, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Atlanta Falcons, New Orleans Saints, and the Los Angeles Chargers left, the Raiders will surely look to add another player.
