The Las Vegas Raiders on going to kick off in just a few days, their Week 9 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals, in a game that could see the result making the team in silver and black 2-7. That would instantly end any hopes of a playoff push if they haven't been ended already.

But, before the game kicked off, on Friday, the Raiders made a few roster moves. And, they were surprising, based on what we saw in the preseason.

I think we all know that one of the preseason MVPs, especially in that last game against the San Francisco 49ers, was wide receiver Tyreik McAllister. He lit up that defense, in all facets of the game, whether it be special teams in the return game, or snagging balls out of the air with defenders draped all over him. He was great.

And, that's one of the reasons the Raiders made it an effort to keep him on the team. That's one of the reasons he was on the active roster, especially lately with the trade of Davante Adams to the New York Jets, they needed as much help in the room as they could get.

So, when he was released on Friday, it was surprising.

Raiders roster moves

Here are the roster moves the Raiders made:

Signed WR Ramel Keyton and TE Justin Shorter to the active roster

Waived WR Tyreik McAllister and TE John Samuel Shenker

Ramel Keyton was also on the initial 53-man roster, as the Raiders liked his size and strength. But, the McAllister move is surprising, to say the least. I'm sure they will try to add McAllister back to the practice squad.

After a matchup with the Bengals, the Raiders will face the Miami Dolphins. But first, a bye week.
