The Las Vegas Raiders are running a tight schedule right now. They have the 2025 NFL Draft approaching quicker than we think, with NFL Free Agency also right around the corner. Yet, they don't have a head coach or a general manager on their staff. And then the staff has to be filled out under those positions, like coordinators and assistant general managers, etc.

The Raiders have candidates for both positions that they have interviewed, and still some that they need to interview. But, right now it seems that the leader in the clubhouse for the head coach position is Ben Johnson. And, why wouldn't it be? He has a choice to make between the Raiders and the Chicago Bears.

And, what may help the Raiders, is the most recent GM candidate the Raiders are set to hire, who would be the perfect pairing for the Raiders.

Raiders to interview Commanders assistant GM

Lance Newmark has been the assistant general manager for the Washington Commanders since 2024, following a remarkable 26-year career with the Detroit Lions. In Detroit, Newmark progressed through various roles in the player personnel department, from area scout to senior director of player personnel, amassing vast experience in talent evaluation and scouting.

His move to the Commanders was part of a significant overhaul of the team's front office, initiated by new general manager Adam Peters. Newmark was brought in to lend his seasoned insights and leadership to a franchise eager to revamp its approach to team building. His tenure with the Lions, particularly during their push to the NFC Championship, and now the Commanders to the NFC Championship, is one that has caught everyone's eyes.

In his role, Newmark plays a pivotal part in managing the personnel and scouting aspects of the team, significantly influencing the Commanders' strategies in the NFL Draft and free agency. His impact was evident in the team's dramatic improvement from a dismal 4-13 record to a 12-5 playoff team in his debut season. Beyond player selection, Newmark is key in daily operations, aligning scouting, coaching, and management to fulfill the Commanders' strategic goals.

He and Ben Johnson know each other and have a relationship from their time with the Lions. So, the pairing would be perfect.
