The Las Vegas Raiders are doing a good job at showing how much they like Josh McDaniels, which could only help with recruiting in the future.
A lot of people didn't, and still don't, like the Josh McDaniels hire when it was made last offseason. It only got worse as the season went on and a team that made the playoffs in 2021 with a worse roster, didn't in 2022. It makes sense to be upset.
But the players and the franchise seem to love him. I think that the whole thing is a process, and McDaniels is getting closer and closer to having the process complete in terms of how things should look. He has to get guys who can and will run his system, and he has done that so far.
One of the guys they got this offseason has played for McDaniels before in New England, and it was a huge reason he came to the Raiders as a free agent. He wanted to be back under McDaniels because he liked him that much, and he isn't the only one. But, Jakobi Meyers, the Raiders' new wide receiver two, had a pretty powerful message on McDaniels.
"I think Josh is a guy that pretty much gives you the answers to the test. It's just up to you if you want to take them or not," Meyers said on NFL Network. "From the moment I stepped in the league, he's always pushed me and always gave me the answers. I kind of had moments where I took the answers and had moments where I finally bought in and it all worked out. It was kind of an easy decision for me to go back to that and just know I was going to get better every day when I got here. I'm happy I choose [the Raiders]."
McDaniels is a player's coach, from everything we have seen. The Raiders players love him, and a message like this shows why. What Meyers said is what every player loves, or most players at least, and if it does anything, it helps show the kind of coach that McDaniels is.
Not only that, but it could help recruiting in the future. For all we know, a player is listening to what Meyers said and thinks that is exactly what he wants. Either way, hearing what Meyers said should make fans feel better about the situation too.
