Not only do the Las Vegas Raiders have a busy offseason ahead of them when it comes to the 2025 NFL Draft, as seeing how they absolutely have to nail this pick, but there are a ton of other things they have to do as well, and those have to go right, too. There's a long checklist of things the Raiders have to complete to get back to being a good football team.
With all of the attention and drama being on the draft and what pick the Raiders will have, and rightfully so, people seem to be forgetting that there are several players the Raiders need to start negotiating contract extensions for. Marcus Epps, Robert Spillane, and Tre'von Moehrig are a few names that come to mind when you think of guys in the last year of their deals, but also guys who have played important roles on this defense.
Moehrig has had an incredible contract year, and he is showing he deserves an extension. Just on Sunday alone against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he was one of the best defenders on the field. Here is what the Raiders PR team tweeted out during the game about the big day Moehrig had:
Safety Tre'von Moehrig now has three passes defensed in the game today – the most in a single game by a Raiders safety since Week 10 of 2019 (Erik Harris, 3 vs. LAC).
Moehrig had a great game and that was a reason the team was even in the game all the way up until halftime. He started his NFL career pretty bad, to say the least, and has progressively gotten better every year. Last year he was amazing. This year, he's been good, not quite as good, but the defense as a whole has been bad, and he's been without his running mate Marcus Epps for some time now.
The Raiders should absolutely consider bringing him back because Moehrig is only getting better. The Raiders play the Atlanta Falcons, Jacksonville Jaguars, and New Orleans Saints.
Las Vegas Raiders safety Tre’Von Moehrig has a souvenir after loss to Chiefs that he’ll keep for a while
That’s something to keep, for sure.
