The New Orleans Saints are already active on their practice squad. After finalizing their group on Wednesday, they are making some changes.

Running back Ellis Merriweather and linebacker Ty Summers were both on the initial practice squad. They have both been released, according to multiple sources. The Saints are adding running backs Tony Jones Jr. and Jordan Mims to the PS in their place.

What does this mean for the Saints in the short-term?

Well, it could signal bad news for rookie RB Kendre Miller. He suffered a hamstring injury on Thursday and has no timetable for a return.

Accordingly, Jones Jr. and/or Mims could have a role in Week 1 behind Jamaal Williams. Kirk Merritt is the only healthy RB on the active roster outside of Williams who will be available for the team's first game.

Updates are to come regarding Miller's status and injury outlook. For now, this move creates some suspense for Saints running backs in Week 1.
