It's do-or-die time for the New Orleans Saints. Even with a win in Week 17, they are not in the postseason. Although, with a loss, they will be eliminated from the playoff race in the NFC.

Accordingly, they need a great game from quarterback Derek Carr. His play has been inconsistent in 2023, but every aspect of the Saints has been a roller coaster this season under head coach Dennis Allen.

That being said, Carr will have a major opportunity in Week 17. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be without top cornerback Carlton Davis and top pass rusher Shaq Barrett on Sunday against New Orleans.

Check out the entire Friday Saints-Bucs injury report below.

The Buccaneers have struggled in pass defense this season in totality. They are giving up the most passing yards per game in the NFL this season (264.1). Tampa is 25th in total yards allowed per game as well.

Now, they'll be without two key players in Davis and Barrett. For the Bucs, expect Anthony Nelson to start off the edge. At CB, Zyon McCollum will slot into the starting lineup once again.

The Bucs are much better against the run. They're 7th in rushing yards allowed per game (92.1). New Orleans will need to get into a rhythm though the air early to avoid getting into a hole against the Bucs.

All in all, Derek Carr has no excuses in Week 17. He and offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael Jr. need to devise a solid game plan in order to keep the Saints' playoff hopes alive.

May be a tall ask, though.

Over the past few years, a nagging knee injury has crept up on him, though. Unfortunately, it is an injury that won't […]
