The New Orleans Saints brought back veteran tight end Jimmy Graham for one reason. Touchdowns.
He's fulfilled the purpose to the maximum in limited action this season. Graham has six catches this season. Four of them are touchdowns. The other two are first down grabs.
With his touchdown in Week 15 against the New York Giants, Graham moved up the NFL receiving TD all-time list to the 16th spot.
Davante Adams and Mike Evans are the only active players with more receiving touchdowns (92) in their career than Graham (89). Graham could pass Rob Gronkowski and Isaac Bruce this season. They have 92 and 91 receiving TDs respectively.
There's no other player that Graham could realistically pass up, so his highest ranking can be 12th. Still, it is a major accomplishment for Graham. He does not get discussed quite as often as player like Gronkowski or Tony Gonzalez, but his production is comparable in some senses.
For the Saints, it's a sight that they love to see. Graham has always been a fan favorite on the football field, and he's setting records even at 37 years old.
New Orleans needs to continue to implement him into the offense consistently.
