The New Orleans Saints won't go down easily. Their playoff lives are still intact after their 23-13 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Saints defense stood strong for most of the matchup and had Tampa in shambles. Meanwhile, the offense was effective enough in the first three quarters to put together a complete win for Dennis Allen's team.
New Orleans had to win to stay alive in the NFC playoff race. Additionally, their hopes of an NFC South crown are still within reach.
Now, the Saints need a win in Week 18 accompanied by a Buccaneers loss in order to win the division.
The victory was a blueprint for how New Orleans expected to find success this year. Their run defense was very impressive, and the pass defense held TB in check for most of the game.
The secondary played a fantastic game without Marshon Lattimore, and the pass rush had time to get home ob QB Baker Mayfield. All in all, every facet of the game went the Saints' way.
Next, New Orleans will turn to the Carolina Panthers next weekend to get a victory over Tampa Bay. The Saints also need to beat the Atlanta Falcons.
Additionally, the Saints can get a playoff berth with a win in Week 18 and a loss from the Seattle Seahawks in Week 17 and 18.
Plenty of meaningful time left for the Saints this season – amidst plenty of inconsistent play.
