The New Orleans Saints plan to hire San Francisco 49ers passing game coordinator Klint Kubiak as their new offensive coordinator. With that move, it will be worth keeping an eye on offensive pieces for SF that are set to be free agents.
Their soon-to-be free agents are mostly depth pieces, but one of them stands out. Wide receiver Jauan Jennings could be a useful addition for New Orleans. He has impressive blocking abilities and makes plays after the catch.
With Kubiak at OC, the Saints may have interest in Jennings.
Jennings is a hard worker in the running game, and he can block incredibly well on screen plays. With Kubiak at the helm, expect a lot more motion and play action. Jennings is an efficient contributor when it comes to that scheme.
Not to menton, Jennings is -simply put- a dawg with the ball in his hands, too. He's elusive at his size (6'3, 215 pounds) and has breakaway speed if given the opportunity. Jennings has been breaking weak tackles since his days at the University of Tennessee.
He's know for being a consistent catch producer on third down and in the clutch. Jennings does his best work in crunch time.
According to OverTheCap, his contract projection is not an expensive one. He's expected to get around $1.5M on a one-year deal.
With the Saints having the biggest deficit of cap space in the NFL, they will need to add veteran depth a team-friendly prices. Jennings fits that bill quite well.
Adding a proven, big-body, athletic wideout that fits the new game plan for the Saints offense makes all the sense in the world. Hopefully, Kubiak can recruit Jennings to New Orleans once he joins the organization officially.
