The New Orleans Saints got a major Week 1 win against a tough Tennessee Titans team. Derek Carr was a big piece of that. In the second half, Carr was impressive, and his weapons made plays for him.
In particular, Rashid Shaheed and Chris Olave emerged. To put the nail in the coffin of the victory, Carr hit Shaheed on a deep 'go' route down the sideline.
Now, we know that Carr called his own shot on that play and told offensive coordinator to let Shaheed 'just run' in order to put the game away.
The video of his discussions with his coach and teammates show their trust in him. Carr is their leader on offense, and he knows his receivers quite well already. Expect plenty more deep throws to Shaheed during Carr's time with New Orleans.
The throw to Shaheed allowed the Saints offense to run out the clock and give the Titans their first loss of the season. The Saints grabbed a win as they enter an NFC South matchup against the Carolina Panthers in Week 2.
