The New Orleans Saints defense has been one of the best in the NFL during the first two weeks of this season.
Impressive play is no stranger to star cornerback Marshon Lattimore. In the second half of last year, Lattimore looked healthy and dominant. This year, he is continuing that wave.
In coverage this season, the Saints star cornerback has allowed just three catches.
The most impressive part of Lattimore's stat line may be the targets. He's only been targeted eight times.
That means that quarterbacks arent even looking Latt's way on most occasions. They don't want to try him, and you cannot blame them.
Additionally, Lattimore has often-covered the opposing team's WR1, so that makes that concept even more impressive. His talent is beating the opponent's best talent – period. The former Pro Bowler played extremely well against DeAndre Hopkins in Week 1 and held his own against D.J. Clark and company in Week 2.
According to Pro Football Focus, Lattimore has been the top cornerback in the NFL so far this season.
His 9.4 passer rating allowed is simply elite as well. Lattimore is making a case for the Defensive Player of the Year award. That won't be easy, but he is in the running early in the season.
