Arik Armstead is enjoying one of the strongest seasons of his NFL career, but even more impressive is the San Francisco 49ers defensive tackle's record off the field.

That was illustrated on Monday as Armstead was named as the Niners' nominee for the Walter Payton Man of the Year award for the fourth consecutive year.

The Man of the Year award recognizes players who display excellence on and off the field.

Armstead has thrived in 2023. He has the seventh-highest pass rush grade for interior defensive linemen, per Pro Football Focus, and has racked up 42 pressures. He has five sacks to his name.

Off the field, Armstead has raised and personally donated over $2 million to youth in the Bay Area and in his hometown of Sacramento through the Armstead Academic Project, which he founded in 2019.

Fans can vote for the award on Twitter by posting #WPMOYChallenge and the last name or Twitter handle of the player for whom they wish to vote. Votes can also be made online at NFL.com/ManOfTheYear.
