The San Francisco 49ers made very hard work of their Week 10 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but the victory still gives them a big opportunity in Week 11.
San Francisco hosts the Seattle Seahawks at Levi's Stadium on Sunday, looking to complete a third successive regular-season sweep of Seattle and claim a seventh straight win over the Seahawks (including postseason).
Doing so would put the 4-5 Seahawks in a deep hole in the NFC West and also see the 49ers move into a tie with surprise division leaders the Arizona Cardinals (6-4).
The Cardinals have the tiebreaker over the 49ers following their surprise Week 5 win at Levi's Stadium but, ahead of a tricky pair of road games with the Green Bay Packers and Buffalo Bills, it is imperative the Niners do not waste the chance to gain ground in the division, which remains their most likely route to a playoff berth.
And the oddsmakers don't envisage them having much trouble doing so, with the 49ers opening as 6.5-point favorites, per DraftKings Sportsbook.
San Francisco did not cover a 6.5-point spread against the Bucs, escaping with a 23-20 triumph on last-second field goal. However, the 49ers' average margin of victory in their seven-game winning run over the Seahawks is 12.5 points and they were 12-point winners over Seattle on the road in Week 6. No wonder then, that there appears to be plenty of confidence they will extend the streak and get to 6-4.
