Things weren't going the way they should the last time San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy was talked about publicly.

That's because the rookie sensation had to delay his impending elbow surgery until March because of inflammation. He was initially set to have surgery in February.

The inflammation eventually subsided, however, and Purdy underwent surgery the morning of Friday, March 10.

Per the team's website, everything went well and the surgery was considered a success. The website also states Purdy is scheduled to start a throwing progression program in three months.

The expectation is Purdy will compete with former top-3 pick Trey Lance for the starting quarterback job in 2023.

It's unclear as to whether or not Purdy will be ready by training camp, so that's something everyone will be monitoring in the coming weeks.
