One of the San Francisco 49ers' best young players proved everyone wrong in 2022 and will have to do it again in 2023.

Coming into 2023, every team has at least one weakness. Even the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles, the team teams that played in the Super Bowl last season, have weaknesses. The 49ers do as well.

However, that weakness is different from the quarterback position. They have the best quarterback room in the league; their problem is just who is going to be QB1. Their biggest weakness would either be receiver depth, tight end depth, or the right tackle spot, not anything to do with the quarterback position like, one NFL analyst recently said.

49ers: Small QB sample sizes No matter who wins their Day 1 job or who holds it eight weeks in, the 49ers do not have the benefit of boasting proven sustainable production under center. Brock Purdy has all of seven legit starts under his belt. Trey Lance has four. And Sam Darnold, who's easily the most experienced with 55 career starts, has never been an above-average full-timer for long. – Cody Benjamin, CBS Sports

Really, this whole paragraph is just showing that people still don't believe in Brock Purdy. They didn't believe in Mr. Irrelevant before, and they don't know. Even after showing everyone that he can not only run the Kyle Shanahan offense but that he can make some damn good throws, they still don't believe in him.

Shanahan not only believes in Purdy and thinks he is the undisputed QB1 if he's healthy, but he also believes in the rest of the room.

"It would have been pretty easy if Brock was healthy," Shanahan said earlier this offseason. "The way Brock played last year, he'd be the starter going into it. Trey had that position going into the year; we were really excited about that and think he would have had a hell of a year. He only got one and a half games, and he went out, which opened an opportunity for Jimmy. Jimmy got hurt and opened it up for Brock.

"And Brock played eight games and won all of them and played at an extremely high level. We're very excited to have that level of player at quarterback. Now, we believe Trey can be that. I think he would have done it last year if he had stayed healthy. The good thing for him is with Brock being hurt, he has an opportunity to try to regain that. It's also why we brought in Sam Darnold."

The 49ers have a good problem on their hands if you ask me. That is, until all three guys start playing badly. But, right now, it's easily a good problem to have.
