The San Francisco 49ers will be down several stars on offense against the Los Angeles Rams, but their defense is set to be at full strength.
As expected, the 49ers confirmed that defensive end Nick Bosa will be available for the Week 3 clash.
Bosa had been limited in practice on Thursday and Friday with a rib injury and was listed as questionable.
But the 2022 Defensive Player of the Year did not feature on the list of inactives for the 49ers.
All-Pro cornerback Charvarius Ward, listed as questionable with hamstring and knee concerns, is also active. He will keep his place as a starter in a secondary that welcomes back All-Pro safety Talanoa Hufanga from the torn ACL he suffered last November.
49ers inactives
- QB Joshua Dobbs
- WR Deebo Samuel
- TE George Kittle
- CB Darrell Luter Jr.
- OL Ben Bartch
- LB Tatum Bethune
Wide receiver Deebo Samuel (calf) and All-Pro tight end George Kittle (hamstring) had already been ruled out.
Their absences, combined with Offensive Player of the Year Christian McCaffrey still being on injured reserve, leave the 49ers undermanned on offense compared to the buffet of star power they usually have on that side of the ball.
As such, the defense may need to do the heavy lifting. Fully healthy and going against a Rams offense shorn of its top playmakers in Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua, it is well-positioned to do just that.
What to watch for in the San Francisco 49ers’ Week 3 matchup with the Los Angeles Rams
The Niners look to be in a very favorable spot.
