Anthony Brown's stay with the 49ers lasted just two days.

The 49ers announced on Thursday that they had released the former Cowboys corner Anthony Brown, having only signed him on Tuesday.

In a corresponding move, the Niners signed corner Tre Swilling to their active roster from the practice squad. Jordan Schultz of The Score first reported the Niners intention to sign Swilling on Wednesday.

A veteran of seven seasons with Dallas, the signing of Brown appeared to represent the 49ers adding valuable experience and versatility at the bottom of their cornerback depth chart after Samuel Womack III was placed on injured reserve with a meniscus injury prior to Week 2.

However, Brown, who was signed to the Steelers practice squad on Aug. 30 before being released on Sept. 14, suffered a torn Achilles in his final season with the Cowboys last year.

His release from the 49ers would perhaps indicate he is not yet physically ready to perform at the level required following his recovery from the injury.
