The bonuses during the San Francisco 49ers' Monday bonus practice ahead of their Week 10 matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers weren't limited to the return of Christian McCaffrey.
Per ESPN's Nick Wagoner, wide receiver Jauan Jennings and kicker Jake Moody were also on hand for the session.
Wide receiver Jennings has missed the 49ers' last two games with a hip injury. He is third on the team with 404 receiving yards, and his rapport with quarterback Brock Purdy figures to be even more critical down the stretch following the season-ending knee injury suffered by Brandon Aiyuk in the Week 7 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Moody, meanwhile, has not played since suffering a high ankle sprain tackling on a kickoff return in the Week 5 defeat to the Arizona Cardinals. Matthew Wright deputized for Moody in the Week 6 win over the Seattle Seahawks before landing on injured reserve after injuring his shoulder while also tackling on a kickoff return.
Anders Carlson has kicked for the 49ers in each of the last two games. He remains, for now, on the San Francisco practice squad.
Carlson made all five of his field goal attempts in his two appearances, though he did miss an extra point against Kansas City.
Moody's return potentially frees the 49ers up to release Carlson and add another player to the practice squad with the ability to make a difference on offense or defense.
As much as they will be glad for the return of Moody, the 49ers will have designs on settling for much fewer field goals with McCaffrey and Jennings back in the fold.
Oddsmakers give their view on how 49ers will handle a sneaky tough one-off test in Week 10
It’s going to be a challenge.
