While the San Francisco 49ers' Week 15 defeat to the Los Angeles Rams left their playoff hopes all but dead, it did improve their position in the 2025 NFL Draft.

San Francisco would greatly benefit from a high pick in the draft with which to help them retool a roster clearly in need of a refresh.

After the end of Week 15's action, the 49ers are currently slated to pick 15th in the first round of April's draft.

They are in a tie with four other teams at 6-8, but have a worse pick than all of them due to having the highest strength of victory.

While there will obviously be no talk of tanking for draft position inside the locker room, the 49ers could move closer to a top-10 pick on Sunday when they face another 6-8 team, the Miami Dolphins, in Week 16.

San Francisco has twice held the 15th overall pick, but used it only once in its history.

The 49ers spent the 15th overall pick on center Forrest Blue back in 1968. Blue played seven seasons with the Niners, earning three first-team All-Pro nods and four Pro Bowl selections in that time.

More recently, the 49ers held the 15th overall pick in 2015, but traded back in the first round to move into the 17th pick, with which they selected defensive tackle Arik Armstead.
