The San Francisco 49ers must win against the Los Angeles Rams to have a realistic shot of making the playoffs, and they will have their best defensive player on the field to aid their cause.
San Francisco confirmed defensive end Nick Bosa will be active to make his return from hip/oblique injuries having missed the last three games.
Bosa's return, coupled with that of linebacker Dre Greenlaw from the Achilles injury he suffered in the Super Bowl in February, puts the 49er defense in much stronger shape for the extremely tough test posed by Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles offense.
On the other side of the ball, rookie running back Isaac Guerendo is also active to make his second career start despite suffering a foot sprain in his first last Sunday.
Guerendo went for 128 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns in that game, a blowout win over the Chicago Bears, and the 49ers will hope the injury does not take away too much of the game-breaking speed that makes him such a dynamic threat out of the backfield.
Patrick Taylor Jr. and Ke'Shawn Vaughn, elevated from the practice squad, will likely take at least some of the strain off Guerendo in the running game.
