The 49ers were already anticipated to win handily against the Giants in Week 3 before the severity of Saquon Barkley’s injury was revealed.
Giants coach Brian Daboll has not yet ruled the star running back out of the Thursday Night Football matchup. However, with Barkley reportedly set to miss three weeks with an ankle sprain suffered in Week 2, the expectation of the 49ers improving to 3-0 by beating New York has only increased.
San Francisco opened as a 10-point favorite, and that line has stretched to 10.5 points.
The Giants are on a high after a huge comeback win over the Cardinals but, with the Niners having routed the Steelers and then held off the Rams on the road, it is no surprise the line is so high.
San Francisco easily covered a two-point spread against Pittsburgh in Week 1, though a last-gasp Rams field goal meant the 49ers did not cover a 7.5-point spread in Week 2.
