The 49ers' immediate focus will be on Sunday's Week 6 road game against the Browns, but there is also the prospect of a primetime clash with the Vikings on the horizon.

Though the Vikings have endured a 1-4 start, a road game in Minnesota is still a difficult test for any team.

But that challenge just got a little bit easier with a key Vikings injury update reported on Tuesday.

The Vikings, per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, are planning to place All-Pro wide receiver Justin Jefferson on injured reserve with a hamstring injury suffered in Minnesota's Week 5 loss to the Chiefs.

It means he will miss four games, including the Monday Night Football game with the 49ers in Week 7.

The Vikings' passing offense is second in the NFL in yards per game (281.6) and, even without Jefferson, Minnesota still has intriguing weapons in rookie wideout Jordan Addison, K.J. Osborn and tight end T.J. Hockenson.

But a 49er defense that has allowed the fewest points in the league (68) will certainly be relieved not to face the Vikings' three-time Pro Bowler, who has established himself as the NFL's gold standard at wideout and could have been a potential equalizer in what looks to be a mismatch.
