The 49ers recently acquired two former Cowboys, and one will be active with revenge on his mind when San Francisco faces Dallas on Sunday Night Football.

San Francisco announced its inactives for the 4-0 Niners' meeting with the 3-1 Cowboys, one which could have huge implications later in the season in the battle for playoff seedings.

And a former Cowboy will have the opportunity to go against his former team.

Inactives observations

Randy Gregory, acquired in a trade with the Broncos on Friday, was already confirmed as being unavailable to face the team that drafted him. He will report back to the 49ers on Monday.

But his former teammate Anthony Brown will look to get one over on his former employers as he gets set to make his 49er debut.

Brown played seven seasons with the Cowboys after being drafted by Dallas in 2016. His final campaign with Dallas was ended by an Achilles injury.

It will be interesting to see what role he occupies. The 49ers have rotated Isaiah Oliver and starting outside corner Deommodore Lenoir in the slot so far this season, with Ambry Thomas taking over outside when Lenoir has played nickel.

However, Thomas gave up an explosive play in the second quarter against the Cardinals last week. Brown could be a candidate to step in on the outside when Lenoir kicks inside.

Running back Elijah Mitchell had already been ruled out with a knee injury suffered prior to the Cardinals game. Wide receiver Jauan Jennings having missed the win over Arizona with a shin issue.
