Arik Armstead said on Thursday he would play in the San Francisco 49ers' blockbuster rematch with the Philadelphia Eagles despite missing two practices with a foot injury.

He's a man of his word.

The 49ers' defensive tackle was not listed among the inactives as San Francisco prepares to face the Eagles and try to avenge last season's NFC Championship Game loss, meaning a pass rush that has thrived since the bye week will be at full strength.

Inactives observations 

The lack of an interior pass rush was a weakness for the 49ers last season. Armstead's durability, combined with the addition of former Eagle Javon Hargrave in free agency, has ensured that has not been the case in 2023.

They have 73 pressures between them, per Pro Football Focus, a far cry from a previous season in which Armstead was the only interior defensive lineman to record even 20.

As the 49ers look to contain Jalen Hurts and the Eagles' passing game, their ability to push the pocket from the interior as well as the edge will be crucial, and Armstead's presence is a tremendous boost to their hopes of achieving that aim.

More depth on the interior defensive line comes in the form of 2022 sixth-round pick Kalia Davis, who is finally set to make his NFL debut. Davis had previously been inactive for every game this season.

One regular who is not available is kick returner Ray-Ray McCloud. McCloud missed two practices this week with a rib issue. His potential absence was hinted at when the 49ers elevated veteran receiver Chris Conley from the practice squad on Saturday.

Rookie receiver Ronnie Bell will likely return kicks in McCloud's absence.
